Apologies in advance if this is covered somewhere, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I have purchased single songs off digital music stores, so I know exactly what album each song came from. If I do an album search, I can find and match things up, but then I’m missing the other N - 1 tracks so that ends up looking weird. If I import as a singleton, however, I can’t seem to get more granular than the recording ID. One track I’m trying to add has over 50 releases associated with it. Is there any way to import a singleton with a release ID? The track release appears to embed disc and track info (e.g., “10e6c1c6-b977-4e26-9de4-bce861530903/disc/1#c19db380-d301-4d59-ab2c-d565f17eef03”) and beets doesn’t seem to handle that.
Hello! If you want to keep track of the album the song is on, then it seems like importing an album (and “missing” the other N-1 tracks) is the way to go. Aside from it looking weird in the importer, is there any particular reason you want to avoid that?
No particular reason. I just thought I was doing something wrong. I guess I also lose the ability to have such imports match the “singleton” path, but I can live with that. Thanks for the reply!
