ReplayGain target (track/album)

I was wondering - when using the ReplayGain plugin, is it scanning by album, or track? I’d like to use the track scan only, as I’m interested on normalizing the sound when shuffling songs between albums, but I see no mention of this on the documentation so I’m not sure what’s being done about that.

I’m using mp3gain for it.

Album. You have to scan tracks manually.

To be clear, if I have

replaygain:
    auto: yes

and then after import I run

beet replaygain "M:/Media/Audio/"

I’d be having a ReplayGain scan at both album and track level, right?
