Hi all,
I’m relatively new to beets and I’m loving it so far.
I’m trying to get my head around the best way to manage multiple versions of the same release. To give a specific example: I have a number of HDCD rips that are saved as 16-bit FLACs, but I’m thinking I’d like to decode them as 24-bit FLACs. ffmpeg can do all of that, but I’d want to keep the 16-bit rips and I’m not sure how to manage the two versions of the same release.
One option could be to archive the 16-bit versions (so they’re not in the beets library at all), but then we’re into managing extra files (which I also need to work out, so maybe I should solve that problem!).
Has anyone else tackled this issue? How did you deal with it?
Thanks,
smilerish
