I often move directories around by hand after import (mainly to keep.boxsets intact using $disctitle).
What I’ve been doing.
1 Import. (Write, copy, autotag)
2 move files manually
3 Adjust metadata.
4 run beet update (it removes moved files from db)
5 Run import -AWC’ against new structure.
Doing this, the lastgenre and fetchart plug-ins seem to “reset” the manually changed metadata.
How do I best update the db after changes?
