What is the unit of album_length?

I’m trying to figure out how album_length works.

Consider the following single-track disc:

beet ls smooth in the shell
菅野よう子 - 2007 - 攻殻機動隊 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T. 4 - Smooth in the Shell - 16 pieces - no break disc - 49:02

beet ls -a stand alone complex -f ‘$albumartist $album $album_length $albumtotal’
菅野よう子 攻殻機動隊 Stand Alone Complex O.S.T. 4 - Smooth in the Shell 2942.0666666666666 1

that works out because 2942.0666/60 is about 49.03 so it must be in seconds

BUT:
beet ls somewhere beyond harmony -f ‘$albumartist $album $title $length’
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Good Morning (How Are You) 3:12
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Stop The Music 3:00
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Ryan 3:15
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Harmony Blues 2:54
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony We Will Never Change 3:50
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Fading Memories 3:29
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony What’s Going On 2:52
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Keep On Giving 3:45
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony How Does It Feel 3:47
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony 3:26

beet ls -a somewhere beyond harmony -f ‘$albumartist $album $album_length $albumtotal’
The Moirs Lost - Somewhere Beyond Harmony 192.5925396825397 10

192.5925/60 = 3.21 minutes?

What am i missing? My mathematical skills are lacking, but they’re not that bad. What unit is album_length, and is it calculated from the MB database or summed from my files (wavpack format)?

Is it the average length of tracks on the album? If so, is the field incorrectly named?

Thanks.

Hello! album_length is not a built-in beets field. You can see that it doesn’t appear in the source code anywhere here:

Is there a chance you defined it yourself in your configuration?

Yep. I had it defined with the inline plugin. I had a loop to sum the track length and must have accidentily removed the indentation for the loop contents at one point.
