Hi every one,
I’m from the UK and a computer user and music lover.
I’ve just signed up to the forum after trying to use Beets over the week end.
I’m using Peppermint OS9 and I installed Beets using the pep software installer and it was V1.4.6-2.
I have created 3 folders in my Music folder thus:-
NewMusic
NewmusicDB
OldMusic
And my config file looks like this:-
directory: ~/Music/NewMusic
library: ~/Music/NewMusicDB/musiclibrary.db
import:
move: yes
So from what I’ve read so far, If I move my music folders or files into ‘OldMusic’ and run in a terminal this command:-
beet import ~/Music/OldMusic/
Beets should go through, correct and move my music to the ‘NewMusic’ folder, - yes?
This is where it goes wrong because all I get is a response in terminal saying:-
name@name ~ beet import ~/Music/OldMusic/
No files imported from /home/name/Music/OldMusic
name@name ~
Please can someone tell me what is wrong, or what I am doing wrong. I would dearly love to get this working as I’ve heard nothing but all good things about it.

N.B. I upgraded to V1.4.7 today using ‘pip install -U beets’ - but first I was prompted to install pip. This all went OK without any errors, - But I still get the same result.
As a suggestion, it helps if you post your full config file in a properly formatted way. That way, we can see if the issue is syntactical in nature. Copy and paste into the text editor, highlight what you just copied and click the button that looks like </> in the edit menu.
I suck at using beets, but this little set up is integral to getting the best help available
That all looks reasonable to me! That message means that beets couldn’t find any music in that directory. Can you ls -R it? Is there anything interesting in verbose mode?

I think I’ve found the problem. - I use wav files as my storage medium which as you say beets doesn’t seem to be able to see.
Last night I removed my wav albums and copied a ‘scratch’ folder of different music file extensions (eg mp3 mp4 etc) into my ‘OldMusic’ folder, and beets was working OK with these.
So i guess my question now is:- Does Beets handle wav files?

There are no wav’s listed in my posting because I removed them when I tried the mp3 and m4a files.
That was when i realized That Beets may not work with wav.
