I volunteer (unpaid) at a local community radio station, which is staffed entirely by volunteers. I have been delegated the onerous responsibility for the music library… which can best be described as utterly disheveled.

Compatibility issues dictate the use of mp3’s. Previously iTunes & MediaMonkey have been used to “wrangle” the music files. Both unsuitable!! My previous “solution of choice” Picard & MusicBrainz… also unsuitable.

The radio station uses StationPlayList Studio & StationPlayList Creator and this software makes extensive use of APEv2 tags. I have started learning beets to clean-up the library and tag the mp3 files. I am a complete noob with Python, the command-line, and YAML? I will attempt not to annoy people with “stupid” noob questions.

The learning curve is steep.
