I have my config.yaml to use the format albumname (year - label) if it finds a duplicate and I choose to keep both, so for example, I will have the following 2 albums:

~/music\_library/Yes/90125
~/music\_library/Yes/90125 (2009 - Audio Fidelity)

Is there any way to get beets to change the album name to match the folder on import? I’m manually doing it after the fact, but would love to skip that step.

Not currently; sorry—but the `duplicates` plugin might be useful for accomplishing this in a post-processing step.
