# How to get CD vs Digital Media?

I have lots of CD Rips and lots of downloaded music form HD Tracks. When Beets is processing I can see CD and Digital Media, along with other attributes always in parenthesis but frequently different order.

I was thinking the CD vs Digital Media would be the albumtype but it is not. How can I consistently pull these values circled in the screen shot below?

The [`preferred` config option](https://beets.readthedocs.io/en/stable/reference/config.html#preferred) might be what you’re looking for - it can be used to tell beets to prefer matches with a specific format (called “media” in beets, “format” on MusicBrainz).

Thanks you so much! Its so easy when you know the right “term”. For my test cases $media is getting me CD or Digital Media almost every time. I’m off to play with the preferred section as one of them comes in a 12" vinyl.
